We had another great day here at GHS in World History. As we wrap up classroom policy discussions as well as setting our mindset for the year, we discussed that the one supply that we do need for the school year is ganas. Ganas is what Jaime Escalante described as desire. Without a desire to succeed in this class or in anything else, you will not live up to your potential. Or, as Ralph Waldo Emerson put it, "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."
We then finished the course with watching the final moments of Stand & Deliver to see just exactly what is possible when students and their teacher have the ganas to succeed. Well, I hope that everyone has a great night and I look forward to seeing you back tomorrow when we will start to get into some actual world history!
